About Logtrain
Since 2015 Logtrain International has trained importers, exporters, clearing agents, freight forwarders and logistics teams in customs compliance and international trade. Every workshop is built around real procedures your team uses the next day.
Every course is facilitated by Trevor Michael, our Head of Training. Trevor is a trade compliance professional with over 20 years’ experience across SARS Customs, leading consultancies and large enterprises. He holds qualifications in international trade and forensic auditing from UNISA and the University of Johannesburg and is a TETA-qualified facilitator and assessor.
Logtrain was founded by Colin Doyle, who has worked where technology, customs and training meet since 1990. In 2015 Logtrain partnered with Clearline Consulting to offer accredited training at national level. Today we train teams across South Africa, the SADC region and East Africa.

Every course is built on South African legislation and SARS procedures, including the Customs and Excise Act 91 of 1964, the Customs Control Act and Customs Duty Act, SARS RLA and RCG requirements and SAQA-aligned unit standards.

Is the training online or in person?
Live online via Zoom or Microsoft Teams. On-site delivery can be arranged for in-house groups.
How long are the courses?
Courses run in half-day sessions from 08h30 to 12h30, over one or two sessions.
Are the courses accredited?

Can I book as an individual?
No. Logtrain does not run open public sessions. Courses are booked by companies for their teams, live online or in-house. If you work in trade, ask your employer about booking training for your team or read our careers guide.
Can teams outside South Africa attend?
Yes. Training runs live online, so teams anywhere in Africa can join. Most content is based on South African customs procedures; the AfCFTA and road freight courses cover cross-border trade more widely.
Which course should my team start with?
Teams completing customs declarations usually start with Customs Compliance Essentials. Import and export teams usually start with Export & Import Procedures, then Incoterms 2020.
Do you offer free courses or diplomas?
No. Logtrain offers paid, short practical courses. See our careers guide for advice on formal qualifications.
Do you offer SAD 500 training?
Yes. Our SAD 500 & VOCs workshop is a single four-hour live online session on completing and submitting the SAD 500 and correcting declarations with vouchers of correction.
Do you offer bonded warehouse training?
Yes. Our Bond & Rebate Stores course covers compliance, control areas, operations and procedures for warehouses holding goods under customs control. It runs over two four-hour sessions, live online or in-house.
Where is Logtrain based?
Logtrain is based at 9c Sandown Road, Cape Town. Courses run live online, so teams anywhere in South Africa can attend and in-house programmes can be arranged at your premises.
Do you offer customs training in Johannesburg and Durban?
Yes. All courses run live online, so delegates in Johannesburg, Durban, Pretoria, Gqeberha and other centres join the same live session. For larger teams, in-house training can be arranged at your premises.
Are your courses based on South African customs law?
Yes. Courses are built on SARS procedures and South African customs legislation, including the Customs and Excise Act 91 of 1964 and the Customs Control Act 31 of 2014.
Are the courses aligned to SAQA unit standards?
Yes. Each course is aligned to SAQA unit standards at NQF Level 3, 4 or 7. Each course page lists its SAQA ID, credits and certificate.
